BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program

BCAFM collaborates with community organizations and farmers’ markets to provide farmers’ market coupons to lower-income families, pregnant people and seniors. The coupon program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.

How It Works

The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) is a healthy eating initiative that supports farmers’ markets and strengthens food security across British Columbia. Community partner organizations provide coupons to lower-income families, pregnant people and seniors participating in their food literacy programs. Coupons can be spent at all BCAFM member farmers’ markets that participate in the FMNCP, and can be used to purchase vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, dairy, herbs, vegetable & fruit plants, honey, meat and fish.

Each household enrolled in the program is eligible to receive a minimum of $27/week in coupons. The program runs throughout the summer months when produce is most abundant across the province.

In 2023, coupons can be used at any participating BC Farmers’ Market from June 5th – December 19th.

Participating farmers’ markets and the BC Association of Farmers’ Market does not give out coupons directly to participants. Participants must get in touch with local community partner agencies directly who you can find on the BCAFM Where It Operates page and then search their contact information. Please note that there is high demand and limited funding for this program across BC, and capacity will vary from partner to partner.

The Kamloops Farmers’ Market has participated in the Nutrition Coupon Program since 2013.  2023 Community Partner Organizations for the Kamloops Farmers’ Market include CF of Central Interior First Nations, Interior Community Services (Families First, Baby’s Head Start, Better at Home, and First Steps programs), Kamloops Immigrant Services, Kwseltkten Services Society, and the Skeetchestn Indian Band
