Community Partners

The Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market Society (KRFMS) is proud to be an important contributor to local food security and community development. The market supports community development and the local economy, while at the same time allowing space for non-profit organizations to engage with the public. If you would like to apply for a space for your community group to attend the market you can do so here.

KRFMS has Food Bank Fund barrels which are situated in the Saturday market area to accept monetary donations from market patrons. Funds from the barrels are collected and at the end of the market season are distributed amongst the local seasonal agricultural vendors, who then take an equivalent dollar value of the produce, meat or eggs to the Kamloops Food Bank, thereby providing them with some local, quality grown / raised food options.

A second way KRFMS and its food vendors contribute to front line local food security is through having the Kamloops branch of The Salvation Army and Jubilee Urban Movement & Partners (JUMP) collect donations of produce and other food items to be used in their food meal programs at the closing of every market. Click on a community group below to learn more about what they’re doing in our community.
